Job placement is seen as the final step in the Skills Training process. The multi-disciplinary team (CEO, Vocational Counsellor, Programme Manager and Supervisor) evaluates the development of the Apprentice based on progress reports from the supervisor. This evaluation is used to assist the apprentice in securing a job, thereby ending his/her tenure at NCPD.

The Job Placement Officer identifies job vacancies and conduct extensive discussions with prospective employers establishing precise job description, working hours, training process, dress code, work-related behaviour, safety measures, co-worker involvement and social milieu. The perspective employer is made aware of the client's disability type, medication (if applicable), emergency phone contact and any accommodations that may be necessary. The Job Placement Officer maintains limited contact with the employer and new employee for a period of six months.

As a new employee, the former apprentice may misunderstand his/her responsibilities or experience difficulties with supervisors and/or co-workers. The Vocational Counsellor may also be actively involved in providing follow up services to assist the former apprentice and/or the employer during this transition period. The Job Placement Officer provides support to both the new employee and the employer during the initial adjustment phase.
