Welcome to NCPD's New Wing . . . .

The National Centre for Persons with Disabilities formally opened its new wing as part our 45th Anniversary celebrations which included our Patron His Excellency Professor George Maxwell Richards, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; our Sponsors, Trainees, Parents and Staff.

His Excellency (center) unveiled the plaque at the Formal Opening Ceremony on December 08, 2009. Also pictured are (L-R) Mr. Ion Gibbon, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Ms. Beverly Beckles, CEO of NCPD.

 

Our Facilities

Front View of the Building

Housed in the new wing are the Horticulture/Agriculture Department, Orthopaedic Department, Woodwork Classroom, Information Techonology Lab., a Sick Bay, Laundry Room, Staff Lounge and male and female Washrooms.

The Republic Bank Horticulture / Agriculture Department

The Horticulture / Agriculture Department encompasses a classroom, a nursery, toolroom, storeroom and a wash-up area.

The National Gas Company Orthopaedic/Welding Department

The Orthopaedic Department encompasses three work areas, an orthopaedic footwear room, finishing room, showroom, storeroom and an office.

Woodwork Classroom

This training area provides a woodworking workshop setting as well as lockers and a storeroom.

The Justice Noor & Zalayhar Hassanali Information Technology Lab.

This accessible, modern and ergonomically friendly room facilitates the training of persons with various disabilities.

Sick Bay

Our air-conditioned Sick Bay provides a quiet place for ailing Trainees and Apprentices to recuperate.

Staff Lounge

The view from the staff lounge is as beautiful as it is soothing and provides a few moments of respite during the lunch break.  It is furnished with an dining table and built-in cupboards and equiipped with a refrigerator and various small appliances.
